Why should I hire a doula?

Birth doulas come with a deep understanding in the rite of passage that is pregnancy and birth. They have proven to increase positive birth outcomes, decrease the rate of medical intervention, and improve breastfeeding success. In the postpartum period, doulas can offer hands-on physical support to aid in the healing process. Whether you had a vaginal or cesarean birth, it is vital to rest, nourish, and bond with your beautiful blessing!

♡

What is a Postpartum Doula?

A Postpartum Doula offers evidence-based, non-medical physical, emotional, and spiritual support in the weeks and months following pregnancy and birth. Focus is put on recovery, the family, infant feeding, and easing the transition into parenthood [or the new addition!]

♡

How can I support you?

I put an emphasis on physical and emotional recovery in the postpartum period. We will work together to figure out exactly what you need to feel balanced, comforted, and prepared to handle the flexibility required of motherhood. I bring expertise in Yoni Steaming, Herbal Infusions, Belly Wrapping, Nourishment, and Birth Processing. I honor Mothering the Mother, and hope to embody how to bring in family and the community to ensure you feel well supported.

For my e-Doula services, we will work together to figure out what you need in pregnancy to prepare for birth and postpartum. I cover nutrition and movement, childbirth and perinatal education, coping measures for labor, birth and postpartum planning. We will also identify your support team and resources.

What families do I serve?

The families I serve include but are not limited to:

First time parents, families with older siblings, parents of multiples, breastfeeding and formula-feeding mothers, mothers without family support, families fostering or adopting a newborn, single parents, mothers with difficult deliveries, mothers recovering from cesarean delivery.

What kind of training do doulas have?

I have trained with Shafia Monroe Consulting (SMC) and am a Full Circle Birth Companion. I am also trained as a Certified Pregnancy and Infant Loss Advocate, Birth Advocate, and Fertility Advocate with Nneka Hall. I have underwent several hours of childbirth education alongside a 2-year apprenticeship working directly with families. I am a lifelong learner, and continue my education through both community and virtual trainings, literature, and lived-experience.

When should I hire a doula?

Postpartum: It is best to contact me for a consultation in the late second trimester/early third trimester of your pregnancy. This gives us time to curate a postpartum sanctuary plan, and for me to gather what is needed for your individualized care. Do not worry if you are beyond that point or have already give birth, I will still support you!

e-Doula: You may contact me during any point in your pregnancy. The earlier the better, to ensure adequate nutrition and so I can help minimize pregnancy discomforts.

♡

What happens on a typical visit?

Postpartum: Because I offer individualized care, each visit may look different. I will start off with addressing any immediate needs you may have. Whether it is childcare to get some rest, a shower or herbal bath, light housework, or breastfeeding support, I will be there for you. I will also connect you with any resources you need [lactation, body work, food banks, etc.]

e-Doula: Virtual visits are around 2 hours and begin with addressing any immediate needs or questions you may have. I also include educational videos, PowerPoint slides, and reading lists. Where you are in pregnancy will determine how often we meet. The priority is getting all information covered and questions answered, I do not have a set number of visits with this package. I will also be available between visits via e-mail.

♡

Do you offer overnight care?

No, I do not. While this is a service that some doulas offer, I currently only do daytime visits. If this is something you are interested in, I can connect you with other doulas who can meet these needs.

♡

Do you accept insurance?

No, I do not accept insurance at this time. I am currently in the process of accepting insurance, check back soon! I do offer payment plans and sliding scale for qualifying families, just ask.

♡

What areas do you serve?

I am based in San Jose, CA and serve the following areas: Campbell, Willow Glen, Sunnyvale, Los Gatos, Milpitas, Cupertino, Santa Clara, Los Altos, and within a 30 minute radius of San Jose.
